ILAB and ANZAAB announce scholarships for the Australian & New Zealand Rare Book School 2024
ANZRBS is an annual event hosted by four Australian and New Zealand institutions on a rotating basis. The University of Otago, Victoria University of Wellington, State Library New South Wales, and State Library Victoria are proud hosts of the rare book school.
ANZRBS is sponsored by the Bibliographical Society of Australia and New Zealand.
ANZAAB & ILAB Bursary
The Australian and New Zealand Association of Antiquarian Booksellers and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers are pleased to provide two bursaries for two booksellers interested in developing their skills in the field of antiquarian, rare and collectible books. ANZAAB & ILAB hold their members and affiliates to high standards of accuracy in cataloguing and presentation to the public. By partnering with the Australian and New Zealand Rare Book School we aim to provide an invaluable educational opportunity for the successful applicant.
Application criteria
The ANZAAB bursary will be for a bookseller resident in Australia and will cover the course fee (up to $1000 AUD).
Current ANZAAB members, prospective ANZAAB members and those interested in entering the antiquarian and rare book trade are encouraged to apply.
The ILAB bursary will be for a bookseller who is a non-ANZAAB member residing outside of Australia and will contribute towards tuition fee, accommodation and travel capped at $1000 AUD. All further costs beyond that sum are covered by the applicant.
Current National Association members, or prospective members and those interested in entering the antiquarian and rare books trade are encouraged to apply. Proofs of payment will need to be provided to the ILAB Secretariat in order to approve the reimbursement.
To apply for either the ANZAAB or ILAB bursary, please apply for the course of your choice via the ANZRBS website and include, when prompted, a statement of up to 500 words outlining your experience and interest in the rare book trade, and how attending the Rare Book Summer School will contribute towards this. Applications are due December 25 and successful applicants will be notified early January 2024.
