York Antiquarian Book Seminar (YABS) - Meet & Greet the Faculty

Following our session with faculty members from CABS in the US (23 March), ILAB is pleased to host an online Q&A with faculty members from the York Antiquarian Book Seminar (YABS) on 25 March 2026. The seminar is open to booksellers from around the world and many international students have attended this worthwile training for booksellers over the years.
This informal meet-and-greet offers the chance to learn more about this UK-based training programme, coordinated by the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association (ABA), and to ask questions directly of those involved.

The session will feature Sophie Schneideman (Sophie Schneideman Rare Books, London) and YABS founder Anthony Smithson (Keel Row Books, Whitley Bay), joined by Liam McGahern (Patrick McGahern Books, Ontario).

YABS brings leading booksellers and librarians together with those new to the trade, as well as collectors, for a comprehensive introduction to the second-hand, antiquarian, and rare book markets. Key procedures and challenges are explored through lectures, discussions, and practical workshops, with particular emphasis on cataloguing, pricing, and bookselling practice.
Over many years, YABS has helped numerous booksellers enter and develop within the trade.

ILAB is keen to promote these excellent training opportunities — we warmly invite you to join us for an hour.
