Private Tours of The Huntington Library, Pasadena

The Huntington Library’s collection of rare books and manuscripts in the fields of British and American literature is nothing short of extraordinary. Among the treasures for research and exhibition are the Ellesmere manuscript of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, a Gutenberg Bible on vellum, the double-elephant folio edition of Audubon’s Birds of America, and a world-class collection of the early editions of Shakespeare’s works.

The Gamble House, Pasadena
Tour of the Gamble House

Designed by brothers Charles Sumner Greene and Henry Mather Greene and constructed in 1908-09 as a home for David B. Gamble of Procter & Gamble company, the three-story Gamble House is regarded as a masterpiece of the American Arts and Crafts Movement.

William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, Los Angeles

Participants will enjoy a guided tour around one of the US’ most comprehensive rare books and manuscripts libraries. William Andrews Clark, Jr., was one of the United States’ most important bibliophiles, along J. Paul Getty, Henry E. Huntington and Henry Clay Folger.

The tour is ollowed by a lunch at the library.

Private Tour of the Getty Center, Los Angeles

Located in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, the Getty Center features pre-20th century European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, and decorative arts, and 19th and 20th century American, Asian, and European photographs. In addition, the Center includes outdoor sculpture displayed on terraces and in gardens and the large Central Garden designed by Robert Irwin.

The day will end with a dinner at the Getty Center.

The Margaret Herrick Library is the main repository of print, graphic, and research materials of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Visit of Petersen Automotive Museum, Los Angeles

The Petersen Automotive Museum is more than a large room filled with cars parked in rows like an indoor parking lot. The vehicles chosen for exhibition are displayed in context to give them real meaning and a better experience for all who come to visit. The “Streetscape” is full of architectural elements that are period correct for the vehicles that surrounded them, immersing visitors deep into the stories that are told.
