45 rare book dealers from Switzerland belong to the Vereinigung der Buch- und Kunstantiquariate der Schweiz (VEBUKU) or Syndicat de la Librairie Ancienne, Moderne et d’Art (SLAMART).

ILAB has a long tradition in Switzerland. The association was founded in 1939 and joined the League in 1948 as a founding member. The first ILAB President was Swiss bookseller William Kundig. As early as 1952, the 5th ILAB Congress took place in Geneva, followed by the 25th ILAB Congress and the 8th International Antiquarian Book Fair in Zurich in 1978.
In 2012, it was time for the ILAB affiliates to meet in Switzerland again. VEBUKU/SLAMART organized the 39th ILAB Congress and 24th International Antiquarian Book Fair with meetings in Lucerne, a book fair in Zurich, and amazing excursions to view treasures of some Swiss libraries, collections, and museums.

In 2026, the General Assembly decided to rename the association the “Association of Swiss Antiquarian Book- and Artsellers” to reflect the changing range of items traded in the antiquarian book and art market.

VEBUKU/SLAMART represents and promotes the shared interests of its members and the public in preserving and caring for our documentary cultural heritage. Our members are committed to upholding the highest professional standards and a sense of responsibility and trust within the antiquarian book and art trade.

In cooperation with the German Association of Antiquarian Booksellers (VDA) and the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of Austria (VAO), VEBUKU/SLACES organizes the "Seminar für Antiquare", annual lectures for rare booksellers, taking place in turns in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland.
