Now, after seventy-eight years at 50 Berkeley Square, London, Maggs are moving. Much of the stock and the “back-office” functions will move to a spacious warehouse in the London suburbs, but Maggs will be open to meet friends and customers, old and new, at a charming new shop at 46 Curzon Street, right by the entrance to Shepherd Market. Since only a few of the staff can work there at one time, and since there is only modest storage, it is very advisable get in contact before making a visit. Telephone and e-mail contact details remain unchanged, Curzon Street will be the mailing address.

When Maggs bought a ninety-nine-year lease in 1937 on the derelict Georgian house in Berkeley Square - “too far from Bond Street”, said the doom-mongers - 2036 must have seemed a long way off. Now, it seems just round the corner, and the remainder of the lease has been sold in order to buy a more lasting property in Central London, where the firm hopes to be installed by the end of 2016.

Opening times at Curzon Street will be Monday to Friday 10 am to 7 pm, Saturday 10 am to 5pm:
