Salon International du Livre Ancien & 25th ILAB International Antiquarian Book Fair
Bienvenue à Paris! Welcome to Paris! Every two years ILAB booksellers gather in a different country to celebrate two major events: the ILAB Congress and the ILAB International Antiquarian Book Fair. Thanks to a generous invitation of the Syndicat national de la Librairie Ancienne et Moderne (SLAM) over 180 antiquarian booksellers from Europe, America and Asia met in the beautiful French capital to show rare and fine books, prints and manuscripts at the Salon International du Livre Ancien at the Grand Palais, which was in this year’s edition the 25th ILAB International Antiquarian Book Fair immediately followed by the 41st Congress of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers.
The elegant glass-domed halls were filled with prestigious books, rare manuscripts, historical documents and hand-written letters by authors, artists, scientists, philosophers and politicians along with beautiful editions and bindings covering all centuries, every imaginable subject and the diverse tastes of young newcomers and experienced collectors. Thousands of visitors browsed the shelves of the 180 plus exhibitors and enjoyed the International Antiquarian Book Fair as a real treasure trove for book lovers.
The fair at the Grand Palais ran from 11th to 13th April and was accompanied by a rich program highlighting the cultural heritage and the beautiful libraries of France and giving insight into the true joy of collecting.
