James R. Bryant

"The entire shop, in an old building close to the Robert Louis Stevenson house, is a bibliophile's delight." (VIA, Travel Magazine)

James Bryant of Carpe Diem Fine Books has been an antiquarian bookseller since 1995. Books have always played a large part of his life, whether for the knowledge gained or the sheer pleasure of reading. When a career change found him considering new areas of life to explore, he "seized the day" - and Carpe Diem Fine Books was born.

Located in a charming 1930's Carmel-stone building in historic Old Monterey, Carpe Diem Fine Books offers a discriminating selection of out-of-print, signed and unusual books in all fields - with a special emphasis on the history and literature of California and the West.
