Helen Younger

Helen Younger founded Aleph-Bet Books in 1977. Her husband Marc Younger joined Aleph-Bet in 1980, first parttime, then fulltime in 1985. They have one of the largest stocks in the USA of nearly 9000 collectible and rare children's and illustrated books.

Aleph-Bet Books publishes three illustrated catalogues a year. Helen and Marc Younger sell only first editions and pride themselves in finding the finest copies available. They offer books from all eras and in all languages, a special interest lies in books from 1800 to 1965 including vintage pop-ups and moveables, books by Lewis Carroll, A. A. Milne, L. M. Montgomery, the Brandywine illustrators (Pyle, Wyeth, Parrish, Jessie Willcox Smith, etc.), Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac, Kay Nielsen, Willy Pogany, Charles & W. Heath Robinson, Harry Clarke, Walter Crane, Beatrix Potter, Kate Greenaway, Maurice Sendak, Margaret Wise Brown, Tasha Tudor, and Dr. Seuss.

In 2002 Helen and Marc Younger published a bibliography “First Editions of Dr. Seuss Books: A Guide to Identification” – a well-known standard work. Besides, Helen Younger has written many articles on book collecting and the rare book trade, some of them are available on the ILAB website.
