47th California International Antiquarian Book Fair - February 7-9, 2014

The California International Antiquarian Book Fair is recognized as one of the world's largest and most prestigious exhibitions of antiquarian books. The three-day event from 7th to 9th February 2014 will offer something exciting for every book lover and collector. Visitors can purchase rare items from medieval manuscripts to collectible editions of authors into the 21st century. There will be unusual books on travel and exploration (including maps), literature, the arts, science and medicine, children's books, law and commerce, ephemera, and Americana. First, signed, and limited editions of many important authors will be present, plus collections of original photographs, prints by renowned artists from the 16th to the 21st century, and remarkable examples of book making, binding, and typography.

Along with the exciting items showcased by 200 rare book experts from 33 countries worldwide, visitors may enjoy a number of book-related events.

Celebrating Shakespeare's 450th Birthday!

The Book Fair's tribute to the Bard will include a special exhibit featuring some of the finest expressions of Shakespeare through the centuries. Fine art books from Scripps College Library will show how Shakespeare has inspired modern artists. Posters, lobby cards and other collectibles from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences will document interpretations of Shakespeare on the silver screen, while playbills and volumes with actors' handwritten notes from the Denison Library at Harvey Mudd College will offer insights into stage productions. The celebration kicks off with Elizabethan music performed by the USC Thornton School of Music during the Book Fair’s grand opening.
