Norbert Donhofer, ILAB President
On behalf of the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of Hungary, I am very happy to invite you to the
42nd ILAB Congress and the 1st International Antiquarian Book Fair of Budapest,
which will take place between the 21 and 25 September 2016 in Budapest.
It is a great pleasure and honour for me that Budapest will have the privilege to host this prestigious event, as we are proud to present the Hungarian capital to you as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with a rich and colourful cultural life and an immensely varied history. The city has monuments and memories from ancient times, of the Turkish Conquest, of the belle époque of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire as well as of the bitter era of communism, all of which is reflected in the book rarities as well. The rich programme of the congress will try to present this wealth of heritage and will also give our visitors the opportunity to see the treasures of the most renowned libraries in Budapest.
The event will grant Hungarian and international antiquarians the chance to meet, exchange views and do business. At the same time, it is a great source of pride and joy for the members of the Hungarian Association to welcome colleagues to their capital, as professional relationships and friendships mean much to them. They seek to learn but also long to show their treasures to the world: their city, their unique values, their excellent cuisine and their world-famous hospitality. Hence, they are much looking forward to your visit to Budapest.
We very much hope to welcome you in Budapest in September!
President of the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of Hungary
