Map of Book Merchant Jenkins

The Book Merchant Jenkins is a general antiquarian bookstore in Brisbane, Australia, buying and selling new, used, and rare books in all genres; specialising in niche non-fiction with a focus on Sexuality, LGBTIQ+, Ethnopharmacology, Dance, Performance, and Art.

We publish a list of newly catalogued material every Wednesday, The Weekly Jenkins. This is the best way to discover our weird and wonderful books, though there are plenty more in the shop that are not on the website. When visiting our store in person you will most likely find Jenkins sitting at his desk with a pencil behind his ear cataloguing books; he will leave you to browse peacefully but be happy to answer your questions about books or help you find something you saw on the website.

The Book Merchant Jenkins also conducts regular rare book auctions (around once a month). The auctions are held live in our West End store and streamed on our website with live online bidding.

We are always buying; from single books to entire collections. Jenkins buys quality books and related materials of cultural or academic value in all genres, but is most interested in our focus areas. Read more about our buying policy.

Yarran L. Jenkins has been an independent book merchant since 2006. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Antiquarian Booksellers (ANZAAB), the Australian Booksellers Association (ABA), the Independent Online Booksellers Association (IOBA), the Bibliographical Society of Australia and New Zealand (BSANZ), an affiliate of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB), and a graduate of the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS). He also sits on the board of ANZAAB and IOBA. If you want to know more about the trade or joining ANZAAB, Jenkins is the association’s Membership Officer and will happily discuss the world of rare books with you.

You can read more about Jenkins in a 2021 interview with Fine Books & Collections.
