Michael Vinson Americana

I have had my own rare book firm, specializing in Texas and the West, for 30 years. I have published two books on Americana book dealing: Edward Eberstadts & Sons: Rare Booksellers of Western Americana (University of Oklahoma Press, 2016); and, Bluffing Texas Style: The Arsons, Forgeries, and High-Stakes Poker Capers of Rare Book Dealer Johnny Jenkins (University of Oklahoma Press, 2020).

My first job was at Southern Methodist University in Dallas (1987--1990), where I was an assistant to the Curator for the Texana and Western Americana Collections. I have appraised the Texana Collection of Senator Ralph W. Yarborough for the University of Texas at Austin, and have worked closely with many of the leading collectors and institutions in Texas and around the country. I am a member of the Chancellor's Council of the University of Texas, and a Life Member of the Friends of the University of Texas at Arlington Library. In 2013 I moved my business to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
