Two internationally renowned antiquarian booksellers join forces to start a grand new enterprise in New York City. On 23rd October, 2013, PRPH Books, established by Umberto Pregliasco and Filippo Rotundo, will be officially opened in New York’s Upper East Side with a vernissage and an inaugural address by Umberto Eco and Arturo Pregliasco.

The third generation of a centenary family of antiquarian booksellers, Umberto Pregliasco of Libreria Antiquario Pregliasco has been dealing in rare books for more than thirty years. He served for seven years as President of the Italian Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association (ALAI) and is now member of the Committee of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB) and member of the Jury of the ILAB Breslauer Prize for Bibliography.

One of the most brilliant and innovative rare book dealers of the new generation, Filippo Rotundo of Philobiblon has handled with the same tireless passion modern books on art, and, over the past twelve years, precious incunabula, illuminated manuscripts and rare modern first editions.

Books and friendship shared with fellow collectors from all over the world has not been simply an economic reward, but a truly gratifying intellectual experience for both Umberto Pregliasco and Filippo Rotundo whose antiquarian bookshops in Turin, Milan and Rome belong to the top locations of the trade. In the last years they have often exhibited together at major book fairs and published catalogues in partnership. Now they have decided to take on the challenge of opening PRPH Books – a new bookshop and gallery in New York.
