Thomas A. Goldwasser

Charles A. Goldsmid earned a Ph.D. at the University of Chicago, spent many years in teaching sociology and published numerous articles. He collected books in American sociology, by and about the Canadian author Stephen Leacock, the California fine printer, and - bookmarks. In October 1983 Charles Goldsmid founded Claremont Books & Prints, specializing in California and the West, California press books, scholarly books in the social sciences, history, philosophy and literature. So far he has issued more than a hundred lists and catalogues, and he exhibits at the major antiquarian book fairs in America.

For the last decade Charles A. Goldsmid and Robert Allen have done - and they still do - appraisals under the name Goldsmid & Allen. These include, among many others, collections on Coptic archeology, Scandinavian history, railroad history, an artist’s archive, a large and important gathering of autograph manuscript for Thoreau’s Walden, and the archive of James Michener.

Charles A. Goldsmid is a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association (ABAA) and served in the ABAA committee from 1992 to 1994.

Thomas A. Goldwasser has been a full-time professional rare book dealer since 1974. He established Thomas A. Goldwasser Rare Books, Inc. in 1990, specializing in first editions of English and American literature, literary letters and manuscripts, livres d'artistes and illustrated books.

Thomas A. Goldwasser is treasurer of the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association in America (ABAA). He exhibits at all major American book fairs from New York to Seattle and Boston. Among the many services he offers to collectors or libraries are collection development and consultation, representation at auctions internationally, and appraisals for insurance or tax purposes.
