COVID19 - related event cancellations
The following events and fairs have been cancelled due to the COVID 19 outbreak.
A next announcement will be made shortly about ILAB - affiliated book fairs.
ILAB will issue regular updates as soon as they have been published from the organisers.
UNITED STATES
L.A. Art Book Fair, 3-5 April cancelled.
Statement by organiser Printed Matter: “We are deeply saddened to announce the cancellation of the 2020 LA Art Book Fair … We have been closely monitoring the escalating spread of coronavirus COVID-19 outbreaks in California and globally, and in light of recent news and advisories, it will not be feasible to stage the Fair in a way in which everyone's safety can be assured.”
Ephemera Society of America’s upcoming conference and fair, which was to be held in Greenwich, Connecticut, beginning March 26, Cancelled.
Statement: "Based on recent events concerning Covid19, and specifically, the Governor of CT’s Executive Order prohibiting large gatherings, The Ephemera Society of America has sadly decided they must CANCEL the 40th annual conference and fair in Greenwich, CT that was scheduled to take place March 26-29, 2020."
DC National Rare Book & Ephemera Fair, US 17&18 April cancelled.
Statement from organiser Marvin Getman, the fair is "being re-scheduled due to the unfolding crisis."
Spring Book Fair, 29 March cancelled. Announced by Vermont Antiquarian Booksellers Association
Paper Town, 11 April, Boxborough Massachusetts cancelled.
Next fair is planned on 19 September.
UNITED KINGDOM
PBFA Fine Press Book Fair in Oxford, UK, has been postponed.
Statement: "Due to the present circumstances, we have taken the decision to postpone the Fine Press Book Fair from the end of March until November 28th & 29th.”
The ABA UK has made the following announcement:
Edinburgh Book Fair – Postponed
After careful consideration, consultation with the leadership of the ABA & PBFA, and with much regret, we have to announce that the Edinburgh Book Fair will not go ahead as planned on 20th & 21st March. With the situation relating to coronavirus/Covid-19 changing day by day our responsibility is to ensure the health and safety of our exhibitors and all potential visitors. We are deeply sorry to disappoint everyone who was looking forward to the fair. We are exploring options that should allow us to reschedule for later in the year.
The PBFA UK has made the following announcement:
Regretfully, due to the Coronavirus, we have decided to cancel all fairs until the end of April. Edinburgh Premier Fair and the UK Fine Press Book Fair have been rescheduled for November. Keep checking our website for updates.
GERMANY
The LEIPZIGER BUCHMESSE and therefore the attached ANTIQUARIATSMESSE IN LEIPZIG were cancelled.
