The Wayfarer's Bookshop was established in 1996 and specializes in exploration, travel and voyage related rare books, manuscripts, maps & prints, photographs and art.
We are a member or fellow of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of Canada (ABAC), the International League of Antiquarian booksellers (ILAB), the Provincial Booksellers' Fairs Association (PBFA), the Ephemera Society, the International Map Collectors' Society (IMCOS), the Royal Geographical Society (RGS), the Society for the History of Discoveries (SHD), the Hakluyt Society, The Manuscript Society and the Alcuin Society.
We strictly adhere to the ABAC and ILAB codes of ethics and thus customer satisfaction is guaranteed as we strive to offer superior history of exploration rarities at fair prices.

Eric Peter Waschke, FRGS found his start in the antiquarian book business in Berlin in 1985. Eric has also lived in Montreal, Munich and London before establishing the Wayfarer's Bookshop in Vancouver in 1996. Eric has traveled extensively, visiting more than 4000 used and antiquarian book shops in almost a hundred countries, allowing him to build an extensive global network of contacts in the rare book world. Eric is also a Past President of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of Canada (ABAC) (2008-10) and was the chairman of the 2010 ABAC Toronto International Antiquarian Book Fair.
Alisa Waschke, PhD in Russian history, graduated from the antiquarian book trade program at the Moscow State University of Printing Arts. From 2003-9 Alisa worked at several Moscow antiquarian bookshops and she defended her PhD thesis on the history of antiquarian book auctions in Russia in 2008. Eric and Alisa met at her work at a Moscow bookshop in 2008 and then Alisa moved to Canada to become Eric's wife and join the Wayfarer's Bookshop in 2009.
