Welcome to Antiquariaat Berger & De Vries, a place where books of all forms and ages are truly appreciated. In the heart of Groningen’s historic city centre — just a two-minute walk from the Vismarkt — you’ll find our shop. Here, we combine expertise, a love of books, and a keen eye for the extraordinary.

Antiquariaat Berger & De Vries was founded in 1994 and is run by Alie Berger and Michel de Vries, with support from Robin ter Beke and Rinus Woesthuis. Alie completed, among other things, the Professional Bookselling Training Programme, while Michel was chair of the Dutch Association of Second-hand Book Dealers (BOB) for six years and served on the committee for the Amsterdam Antiquarian Book, Map & Print Fair.

We buy and sell books across the full breadth of the book trade, from modern antiquarian to centuries old. In addition, we offer a varied selection of maps, posters, prints, vinyl records, photographs, postcards, and even stereoscopic photos.
