Scandinavian Antiquarian Book Fair – 6-8 November, 2014, at Copenhagen’s Beautiful Round Tower

It is with great pleasure that the Danish Antiquarian Booksellers Association (ABF) will host the Scandinavian Antiquarian Book Fair from 6th to 8th November 2014. As in 2011, we have once again been fortunate enough to host this event in the beautiful, old Library Hall of Copenhagen's Round Tower, which constitutes a unique setting for this weekend of celebrating the book. The last antiquarian book fair in Copenhagen in 2011 turned out to be a great success, not only due to the unprecedented number of exhibitors from all over Europe and the large number of visitors, but also due to the interesting exhibitions of private collections and several workshops, in which some of Denmark's best book binders, paper restorers, and paper artists were presenting their works in progress.

Furthermore, the magnificent setting of the Round Tower turned out to be so well run and the events here so well organized that the logistical fears we might have had were completely laid to rest. Transportation in and out of the tower went extremely smoothly and with the electrical cars and hired help, there will be no problems getting books up the tower.

We hope that you will help to repeat the success and sign up for a booth. We will be most happy to welcome you in Copenhagen, in the magnificent Round Tower!

Maria Girsel (ABF President)

The Round Tower

The Round Tower was built by Christian IV between 1637 and 1642 as part of the Trinitatis complex uniting church, library, and observatory in one single building. The old library room, in which the book fair will take place, was the first university library in Denmark and the place where all the books of the university were kept from 1657 till 1861, when the collection was moved to larger premises.
