"Writers, painters, photographers, binders, scribes, engravers, designers and editors work as a team...it is in this spirit of collaboration that the ANZAAB booksellers are working together"
Douglas Stewart, President of the Australian and New Zealand Antiquarian Booksellers' Association writes in November 2021:
Dear friends,
It is my pleasure to introduce you to the ANZAAB Joint Catalogue for November 2021, the fourth such catalogue ANZAAB has presented. As you scroll through the offerings, I am sure you will agree it is an indulgent feast for any lover of books! The breadth of material is truly staggering, ranging in date over nine centuries, and including rarities from all parts of the world.
Within the catalogue you will find English literature and private press in exquisite condition, travel books from Asia, Africa, America and beyond, printings and manuscripts from the birth of the Renaissance, and all manner of Australian and New Zealand history, ranging from obscure rarities, keenly sought after reference books, and outstanding classics which mark significant moments in time. Whether it’s fine art, sport, farming, photography, cultural studies, natural history, politics, sex, or much else that you are collecting, there will be something here which would have merit as being part of your collection.
As you browse the catalogue, take note of the significant offerings of original materials presented for sale. These artworks, manuscripts, photographs and archives are usually only ever sold once, so don’t let the opportunity to add these to your collection slip through your hands. Those who have been collecting for even a few years, will realise how inexpensive these offerings appear in hindsight.
Also take note of how many of these fine offerings only exist as a result of collaboration between talents. Some works are a single person’s endeavour, but so many fine creations are produced from people working together. Writers, painters, photographers, binders, scribes, engravers, designers and editors work as a team, to produce so many of these beautiful books, it is in this spirit of collaboration that the ANZAAB booksellers are working together to create such a fine catalogue of treasures. No single bookseller can have this staggering range of works, it is only by collaboration we can present this offering."
