ILAB's member nations sponsor and produce the world's greatest book fairs and exhibitions of rare books for sale in cities like Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Milan, Boston, Tokyo, Stuttgart, Stockholm, and more. All exhibitors at these fairs are members of their national antiquarian booksellers' association and therefore affiliated to the international umbrella organisation, ILAB. ILAB booksellers worldwide adhere, without compromise, to highest standards, regulated and bound to a Code of Usages and Customs.

The Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of Italy (ALAI) has just announced, it will change its fair concept for 2018 without compromising ILAB standards.

Members of the Italian association will participate in 3 book fairs in Milan and Turin in January, March and May 2018.

The next fair, Salone della Cultura in Milan, takes place from 20-21 January, counting over 35,000 visitors each year.

Mario Giupponi, bookseller from Riva del Garda (Italy) and President of ALAI endorses this move:

"It is important to showcase our trade and hiqh quality product to a broader clientele. These salons have been very successful for many years, are very well attended and attract customers from all walks of life. It is our duty as an association to find out new models and ways to offering dealers the right platform to show their books."

The first Salone della Cultura was held in January 2017 in Milan with further salons throughout the year, attracting over 35,000 visitors to each event, an exceptional result! An event which aims to involve readers, collectors, bibliophiles and “seekers of paper treasurers” in a joint celebration of book culture; uniting the different worlds of the book: publishers, antiquarian booksellers and collectors.

Organisers of the Salon are two-well-established names in the Italian book world: Matteo Luteriani, publisher of Luni Editrice and Sergio Malavasi of Maremagnum.com. The Salon takes place in one of the most trendy areas in Milan: Superstudio Più.

The Turin-based Salone Internazionale del Libro (11-13 May 2018) is an international book fair for the modern book world: a trade show for publishers, agents, modern booksellers and authors with a strong consumer element and wide programme of events. The Italian Antiquarian Booksellers' Association will also join this fair, as the Salone della Cultura and Tempo di Libri, both in Milan, to broaden their network and customer base with a dedicated ILAB / ALAI section.
