The Cambridge University Library is cataloguing its collection of 4,650 incunabula online for the first time. The collection, part of which goes back to the late 15th century, is internationally renowned and includes some 134 unique items.

The Cambridge University Library is cataloguing its collection of 4,650 incunabula online for the first time. The collection, part of which goes back to the late 15th century, is internationally renowned and includes some 134 unique items. The scope of the project is to create records for all incunabula with special emphasis on specific information such as anomalies, rubrication, decoration and illumination, annotations, binding, marks of ownership, and provenance of the copies. The project which has been funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for five years has started a blog to record the progress of cataloguing. The posts contain interesting details and information about new discoveries, such as "A book from Parrhasius's library", “A rare Savonarola edition”, "Cicero re-ordered", and “Ratdolt Eusebius from Pinelli Library identified”.
