Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar Honoured by a $1 Million Donation

Message from Sally Burdon, ILAB President: 41 years of supporting and educating booksellers is a long and proud record. This summer, just like the 40 before that, the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS) guided and supported another 50 would-be booksellers, more experienced booksellers, librarians and collectors through the intricacies of the antiquarian trade.

This summer, though, was rather different as CABS and their parent foundation, the Antiquarian Book School Foundation, received a gift from an anonymous donor of $1 million. This generous gift, one of the largest gifts given to an antiquarian book trade organisation, will go directly into the CABS permanent endowment enabling CABS to keep delivering education and support to members of the trade well into the future.

ILAB congratulates the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS) and the Antiquarian Book School Foundation (ABSF) on their recent receipt of a $1 million donation. This generous donation is well earned recognition for the decades of the thoughtful, creative and expert work that has gone into the week long program CABS holds each summer in Colorado. These funds place CABS in a very strong position to keep delivering the week long seminar for years to come.

A great many people who have been students at CABS over the years are now ILAB affiliates. ILAB would like to take this opportunity to thank CABS for the help and support they have given the trade over more than four decades. If you are not aware of the wonderful seminar that CABS runs every year be sure to have a look at their website or look at the links below for some articles about their work.
