Hereditas 19
Hereditas Antikvárium
Our 19th auction, held on 5 December 2025 at the Károlyi Palace (Petőfi Literary Museum, Budapest), presents an exceptional selection across multiple fields.
The prominent map section features several remarkable cartographic rarities, among them Antonio Floriano’s striking 1555 world map — a visually captivating, wheel-spoked representation of the globe and one of the most intriguing early world maps to appear on the market in recent years.
Beyond the cartographic highlights, the sale includes rare early Hungarian prints, significant historical documents, fine literary first editions, manuscripts, and notable works from the natural sciences.
Key items include a 1574 Reformed theological work printed in Debrecen, Miklós Telegdi’s three-volume collection of sermons, a numbered and signed first edition of The House at Pooh Corner, Carl Friedrich Hindenburg’s study on Kempelen’s inventions (the speaking machine and the “Turk” chess-automaton), and an autograph note by Albert Einstein containing one of his field equations.
The items will be on view in our shop at 1052 Budapest, Vitkovics Mihaly utca 12 from 24 November, weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please feel free to contact us if you require additional photographs to assist you with your decision. We also accept absentee bids and telephone bidding registrations via email until 11 a.m. CET on the day of the auction.
