For the first time in Germany a major retrospective is devoted to the Japanese artist Hokusai (1760–1849). Over 350 loans, which with few exceptions come from Japan, will be on display in tBerlin’s Martin-Gropius-Bau, among them his famous woodcut “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” from the series “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji” (1823–29) as well as woodcuts, drawings, illustrated books and painting from all periods of Hokusai's career.
