The annual fall gathering for booklovers, the Boston International Antiquarian Book Fair returns to the Hynes Convention Center in Boston's beautiful Back Bay for its 41st year, November 10-12, 2017. More than 120 dealers from the United States, Argentina, Australia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, and Russia will exhibit and sell a vast selection of rare, collectible and antiquarian books, illuminated manuscripts, autographs, maps, atlases, modern first editions, photographs, and fine and decorative prints.

Melbourne Rare Book Week - Looking at the 2017 Programme

Since releasing this year's program on 22 May, the response to the line-up of events has been remarkable, with several being booked out very quickly. Melbourne Rare Book Week commenced in 2012 as a partnership between ANZAAB, the University of Melbourne and eight other literary institutions. Over 50 free events are scheduled for the 2017 festival which runs from Friday 30 June to Sunday 9 July.

Bouquinistes at an ILAB fair - a contradiction? NON!

Since the days of Renaissance, open air bookselling has happened along the Seine riverbanks. Tourist souvenirs aside, a bouquiniste find was often the beginning of a lifelong passion and first piece in a collection. Plying their trade on the famous banks of the Seine, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1991, the bouquinistes des quais are as emblematic of the French capital as the Eiffel Tower or Montmartre for the millions of French and foreign tourists who visit Paris every year.

The Wellcome Collection is the specialist collection for the history of medicine. It covers books, manuscripts, archives, films and pictures from the earliest times to the present day. While medicine provides the unifying theme, hardly a subject relating to the history of European science is not represented: alchemy and chemistry, astrology and astronomy, physics, botany, zoology, cookery and pharmacy, exploration and travel, geography and geology, horology, mathematics, magic, mesmerism, phrenology, patent medicine, quackery, psychoanalysis, psychology and sexology ...

Conférence préliminaire

En 1947, des représentants de Grande-Bretagne, France, Danemark, Suède et des Pays-Bas se réunirent à Amsterdam pour une conférence préliminaire. Ils discutèrent de l’idée de Hertzberger de former une organisation qui contrecarrerait l’animosité et les méfiances engendrées par la Seconde Guerre Mondiale. La nouvelle Ligue Internationale de la Librairie Ancienne devrait susciter des liens d’amitié et de compréhension entre les nations afin de jeter les bases d’un marché professionnel plus juste.
