Charles Dickens collectors see prices rise as signed book fetches £275k, here's how to invest from just £100

"Charles Dickens is arguably the nation's greatest novelist – as well as the most collectable. A signed copy of A Tale Of Two Cities was last month put up for sale for a record-breaking £275,000. The previous top price paid for the Victorian author's work was $290,000 (£174,000) for a pre-publication copy of A Christmas Carol in 2009. The signed copy of A Tale Of Two Cities is special as it is inscribed to fellow writer George Eliot – real name Mary Ann Evans. But Brian Lake, president of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association, says the key appeal of Dickens is that there is a wide range of books and ephemera to suit all pockets ..."

23rd Chelsea Antiquarian Book Fair from 1st to 2nd November 2013

The 23rd Chelsea Antiquarian Book Fair will be held at the beautiful Chelsea Old Town Hall in the King's Road, London, on 1st and 2nd November 2013. Over its life, the Chelsea fair has become a fixture in the November calendar for book collectors and dealers from Britain, Europe and America. Warmer than Boston, more intimate than York, less formal than Paris – Chelsea has it all. Most of our exhibitors come back year after year, and that's because sales continue to increase, and the customers return, again and again.

55th London International Antiquarian Book Fair 2012

The dates for the 55th London International Antiquarian Book Fair have been announced and for the first time, the fair will take place in May: Thursday May 24, Friday May 25 & Saturday May 26, 2012. Organised by the ABA (the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association), the Fair will move to a new location - the larger National Hall at Olympia (London W14) with all stands on one level. This move follows on from the success of the 2011 Fair, which saw more stand space sold than ever before and it became evident that the Fair had finally out-grown Olympia 2.
