Rare Book School (RBS) was founded in 1983. It provides continuing-education opportunities for students from all disciplines and levels to study the history of written, printed, and born-digital materials with leading scholars and professionals in the field.

In 2014, Rare Book School will offer courses at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, the Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts at the University of Pennsylvania and the Library Company of Philadelphia in Philadelphia as well as at the Lillian Goldman Law Library, Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Library, and Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University in New Haven.
