Michael Treloar - Auction of Books and Prints

decoration17 July 2011

Our next auction of books, prints, maps, photographs, manuscripts and ephemera takes place this Sunday, 17 July. Although the bulk of the material has an Australian bias, this covers a multitude of bases, ranging from Dampier's four-volume Collection of Voyages (1729) to vintage photographs of Australian Aborigines by Paul Foelsche and Francis Gillen; from the first Australian children's book ever printed (A Mother's Offering to her Children, Sydney, 1841) to books or letters signed by the explorers Sturt, Grey, McKinlay, Giles and Forrest. Less parochial highlights include the very rare Bowles's New Collection of English Moths and Butterflies (1770), Palladio's Architecture (1736) and Johnston's Nature of Four-footed Beasts (1678).

Go to www.treloars.com/auction for a fully illustrated (and very user-friendly) version of the catalogue.
