New Dates for Mantova Libri Mappe Stampe:
Due to the COVID19 pandemic, the fair which was originally due to take place in May was cancelled. The organisers have now announced new dates for September. The fair will take place at the beautiful Museo Diocesano F. Gonzaga, applying to strict hygienic rules and official guidelines to ensure the safety of its visitors and exhibitors.
The Mantova Libri Mappe Stampe antiques fair carries on a tradition which started in 1975, when the first event in Italy entirely dedicated to antique prints, maps and books was held in Mantua.
Over forty Italian and international exhibitors (including specialist bookshops and professional antique prints and maps dealers) have confirmed their attendance.
Rare books such as the 16th-century printed books by famous printers like Manunzio and Giunta, rare and curious prints dating from the 16th through to the 20th centuries and a large variety of antique maps and decorative prints (always original and guaranteed by professional dealers) attract the interest of enthusiastic visitors and satisfy even the most demanding collectors.
A special section of the fair is dedicated to the extraordinary world of cartography and includes maps, atlases and topographic maps. Some dealers, specialized in ancient graphics, will present collections of works by "noted engravers" (Grandi Maestri) such as Durer, Raimondi and Ghisi.
