decoration28 Feb. 2015|30 March 2015

"We met each other, we talked about passions and made us gifts: BOOKS!" For more than 40 years the publishers Akka and Wulf D. von Lucius collect beautiful books. Their interests have always been widespread: from illustrated books from related to the Goethe era and the Weimar Classicism to modern artists' books. An exhibition »Anmut und Würde: Bücher und Leben in der Goethezeit« was dedicated to the Lucius Collection of 18th and 19th Century illustrated books. Now the Stuttgart Art Museum presents the most beautiful and rare artists' books from the Lucius Collection in a special exhibition. In an essay Akka von Lucius describes artists' books as a "dialogue between poetry and art". The Stuttgart exhibition shows the most remarkable results of this aesthetic dialogue from February to August 2015 presenting artists' books from the École de Paris, Pop Art, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Horst Antes, Walter Stöhrer, Jim Dine and Andy Warhol.
