New Directions in Book Collecting: Notes from the Honey & Wax Prize
Heather O'Donnell, founder of Honey and Wax Booksellers in Brooklyn, will present "New Directions in Book Collecting: Notes from the Honey & Wax Prize", a conversation about new directions in book collecting. For the past two years, Brooklyn based Honey & Wax Booksellers has sponsored an annual prize of $1000 for an outstanding book collection built by a young American woman. The response from young collectors all over the country offers a look at increasingly popular subjects, genres, and practices.
Saturday September 8th, 2:00pm
“From Process to Product: Collecting the Ephemera of 20th and 21st Century Social Movements.”
by Lorne Bair, owner of Lorne Bair Rare Books, Manuscripts, and Ephemera
The talk will focus on the example of a few highly imaginative contemporary collectors whose work has been of great benefit to scholarship, and we’ll offer ideas on how newer collectors can build and focus their acquisitions to create collections of real cultural significance — whether their budgets are large, small, or even nonexistent.
