The Institute of English Studies runs an active programme of lectures, seminars, conferences, symposia, reading groups and summer schools. Unless otherwise stated, events are free and open to the public. In association with the Antiquarian Booksellers Association, ABA, The focus of the ABE-IES Book Collecting seminars is on bibliophilia and the book trade. Book-collectors, dealers and auctioneers are invited to give a lecture on a subject of their choosing which relates to the practice of bibliophilia. Lectures may be anecdotal, academic or purely for entertainment, with a special focus this year on widening access in book-collecting. With this in mind, the programme is jointly-coordinated and run by the University of London’s new Society of Bibliophiles.
Marysa De Veer (Otter Bookbinding) and Rob Shepherd (Shepherds Bookbinders): Collectors and Bookbinding. The speakers on this panel will examine issues including changing tastes in binding repair and collectors' tastes in new bindings.
